Not exactly how it sounds, though I suggest it to any man, Sean Penn has decided to dedicate a year for me-time and therefore has decided to exit both Cartel and The Three Stooges, two films he previously committed to.
Sean Penn Bails for Me Time
Universal Pictures has quickly recovered from Penn's exit from Cartel, with an updated list of possible actors and hopes to keep the film scheduled for an early fall start date. Directed by Asger Leth off a script by Peter Craig, Cartel follows a man who journeys to protect his son after his wife is murdered by Mexican cartels.
Jim Carrey and Benicio Del Toro have been left without Larry in The Three Stooges, after Sean Penn bailed on that also. It's still unclear if the studio will recast or wait for Penn to return to work.
For those of you who are sad that Penn will be absent from Hollywood for what some are predicting to be a year, dry your eyes, as he still has two films in the can including Fair Game and The Tree of Life.
