Jackie Chan
Back in January Jackie Chan had been sought out for The Karate Kid remake. Personally, I don't think the studios should touch this one, as it is a flick that was made for the '80s. It doesn't belong in this century, don't try to remake it. But, my opinion means nothing, and the idea of easy money is too tempting for Hollywood... And for Jackie Chan it seems.
Jackie Chan Confirmed for The Karate Kid
Just about seven months later, Jackie Chan has finally agreed to play the wise kung-fu master in the remake of The Karate Kid, which begun filming kicks and punches this week.
The new Karate Kid will be played by Jaden Smith, the same kid who just happens to be the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. Just in case you weren't around for the '80s, the original Karate Kid had Pat Morita as the iconic building handyman Mr. Miyagi who trains one of his young tenants, portrayed by Ralph Macchio, into an accomplished fighter.
Last time I saw Ralph Macchio, who looks completely different by the way, was during that Playboy episode of Entourage.
The remake is being directed by Harald Zwart. Production is taking place in the Chinese capital.
