Pushing Daisies - The Complete Second Season
Blu Ray keeps Pushing Daisies looking like it did on HDTV. That is to say, it still looks like TV. It doesn’t suffer for the upgrade from cable and satellite, but it doesn’t really improve either. Still, bright colors in HD clarity makes a good Blu Ray.
On Blu-Ray: Pushing Daisies' 2nd Season
The bright colors shine out so all the lavish sets and colorful costumes and visual effects are stellar. You don’t necessarily see extra detail in them. You may see a little texture in an extreme closeup. At least the counter of the Pie Hole shows all its cracks, but there is usually a softness as there is on the air.
The Blu Ray is never lacking. Some TV Blu Rays end up looking grainy, either from film footage pushed past its limits or just plain digital distortion. Pushing Daisies always looks solid with its colors and patterns, even if it isn’t happily gritty about it.
It may fade in and out of some texture in close-ups, so that much is better, more pure than the TV airings. The CGI sequences look flawless since they were manufactured with every detail. Perhaps it is only by that comparison that the live-action parts look any less than perfect.
