Yes, I know the picture of Sam Worthington (to the right) is old, but that's all we had when first told of his casting in both Avatar and Terminator Salvation. Now that the actor has become a star in 2009, I guess we're due to update it; just not today.

Sam Worthington Replaces Cruise for The Tourist

Though I love Tom Cruise, I personally think Sam Worthington makes a better match for Theron, who has been attached to The Tourist for some time. Based on the 2005 French spy thriller Anthony Zimmer, the remake follows a female Interpol agent chooses an everyman American tourist visiting France and dangles him as bait in the hunt for a wanted criminal, who's also her former lover.

Jerome Salle directed the original off a script he wrote. Spyglass Entertainment has picked up Bharat Nalluri to get behind the camera of the remake, with a screenplay by scribes Julian Fellowes, Bill Wheeler and Chris McQuarrie.

Production is expected to begin this January. Cruise exited the project in order to star in an untitled James Mangold project.
