Now here's an interesting reimagining. Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way banner is developing a "gothic" take on Little Red Riding Hood, with scribe David Leslie Johnson onboard to write the script. If all goes well, DiCaprio might even turn the project into a starring vehicle. He says he's not, but you never know.
Leonardo DiCaprio to Produce a Gothic Little Red Riding Hood
As proved by Orphan, horror films can turn small budgets into big earnings. Appian Way saw the fruits of this, and is hoping that adding a dark twist to Little Red Riding Hood can deliver the same results.
If you remember the original tale from the Brothers Grimm, the story follows a wolf who attempts to disguise himself to fool a girl delivering food to her sick grandmother in the forest. There have been dark retellings before, especially that from Charles Perrault, where he ends his story with Red Riding Hood getting eaten.
That's right, no happily ever after.
While DiCaprio will likely avoid getting in front of the camera for this one, you can see him in Shutter Island, the latest thriller from Martin Scorsese.
