Though Leonardo DiCaprio plans to only produce the retelling of Little Red Riding Hood through his Appian Way banner, Ridley Scott's Brave New World is another story. While DiCaprio plans to co-produce the feature adaptation with Scott, this project could also potentially become a starring vehicle for the actor.
Leonardo DiCaprio Teams With Scott for Brave New World
Written by Aldous Huxley in 1931, Brave New World takes place in a seemingly perfect 26th century world that has achieved harmony by tightly controlling birth, which takes place mainly in laboratories, and outlawing family. The world is populated by a series of five castes, each with its own defined roles. The title character is Bernard, a lower-caste member who becomes infatuated with a woman named Lenina. When society learns of Bernard's crush, the leaders that be attempt to persecute him.
As you might have guessed, DiCaprio is looking at the role of Bernard.
The project has been setup at Universal, and the studio has brought on Apocalypto scribe Farhad Safinia to pen the script. Both Ridley Scott and DiCaprio's schedules should be more than open when it is time for Brave New World to enter into production. Unless their calendars change, expect added involvement from both.
