Just Cause
Actioners have done will this summer, as have adaptations. So it would make sense to adapt any high-profile video game out there that will make a good actioner. One such game is Just Cause, a property that has been picked up by Adrian Askarieh.
The Scorpion Gets Screen Deal
While film rights of a single video game (franchise) typically wouldn't get too much attention, this is the same Adrian Askarieh that successfully setup both Hitman and Kane and Lynch at Lionsgate. Just Cause just happens to be his (mind the pun) latest mission.
When it comes to the story, Just Cause revolves around missions carried out by a deadly CIA black ops assassin code-named the Scorpion, who specializes in regime changes while battling pirates, mercenaries and rogue agents. The character has become iconic for his high-tech grappling hook and his penchant for BASE-jumping from high altitudes while in action. The first game had the Scorpion help overthrow the dictator of a fictional Caribbean tropical island who possessed weapons of mass destruction.
An adaptation of Just Cause couldn't come at a better time, as Edios Entertainment is currently readying a sequel. As it turns out, gamers typically enjoy movies; especially ones made after their favorite vidgame.
