Tiffani Thiessen gets high billing on the new show White Collar, even though she plays the supporting role of the wife of the main cop. Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) has to team up with con artist Neal Caffrey (Matthew Bomer) to catch high class crooks. Thiessen plays Elizabeth Burke, but she’s getting all the attention for the show.
Tiffani Thiessen Wears a White Collar
“I definitely chuckled at first, but I think there are reasons about why they do things,” Thiessen said. “They're being smart. I guess I'm somewhat in their minds a little recognizable. So that's why.”
After iconic runs on Saved by the Bell and Beverly Hills 90210, as well as short-lived favorites like Fastlane, Thiessen was looking for another TV show. “I had actually read the script and I fell in love with it. I was in love with it from the moment that I read it. I went in and fought for it. I actually didn't get it at first. They couldn't find the woman. They turned me down. I said, ‘No. You don't understand. I want this role.’”
It may be a detective show, but Thiessen thought Mrs. Burke was the juiciest part. “She's labeled as the perfect wife and so for my husband I want to be the perfect wife. But this role, it's funny. I think this is the role that's the closet to me in real life that I've ever done which is probably why I liked it so much. I like that I'm playing my age. I like that I'm playing a married woman. I like that I'm playing successful and smart and all those things that I want to be as a woman and that I am married and I am thirty five.”
