The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
When one sees the reaction that the international trailer got for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, it becomes hard to imagine that this film is still without a domestic distributor. A little less than a week later, Sony Pictures has admitted to being interested in the project.
Doctor Parnassus Looking to Sony
Sony Pictures is in talks to get The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus in theaters this year through their Sony Pictures Classics banner. Thanks to the positive buzz and the fact that this film was Heath Ledger's last, there is already a lot of attention surrounding Parnassus; saving Sony a lot of work in early marketing.
Though the film was screened at this year's Cannes Film Festival, there wasn't any immediate buyers. Sony, however, has been in talks to pick up the film for some time, and an official announcement is expected this week.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus opens to theatres some time in 2009.
