DreamWorks Animation isn't fooling around when it comes to casting their upcoming CG release Oobermind. Filling in the male cast, the studio has picked up Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill.
Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill for Oobermind
What I love about Oobermind is that the story sounds absolutely genius. Will Ferrell will play the title character who is a supervillain who finally defeats his longtime good-guy rival Metro Man, voiced by Brad Pitt. The only catch is that the villain soon finds life not to be what he expected without an adversary. In short, it's just too boring. To fill the void, Oobermind creates a new superhero, Titan (Hill), who also wants to be bad, forcing Oobermind to switch sides.
Ferrell is replacing Robert Downey Jr. as the title character and Tina Fey is already onboard to voice the reporter tasked with keeping track of the city's confusing superhero situation.
Oobermind represents one of three heavy hitters that DreamWorks Animation has loaded up for 2010. After seeing a weak 2009 thanks to the underperformance of Monsters vs Aliens, the studio has How to Train Your Dragon, Oobermind and Shrek Forever After all coming our way next year.
