Sling Blade
I was wondering how Sling Blade would look on Blu Ray, being an older indie film, probably not shot or preserved on the best stock. It holds up well. At least it looks like the best version of the movie, if not some mind blowing restoration.
On Blu-Ray: Sling Blade
The picture is sharp, presenting the filmic aesthetic of the south, if tightened up from the version I saw at a local arthouse in 1997 (after the nominations). I wouldn’t say it looks like you’re there, and there may be a few shots that fuzz up, but most of it is totally sharp.
It’s not a colorful film, mostly brown and dead green. That still looks right. Occasionally you’ll see that Blu Ray detail in close-ups, but most of it is just solid sharpness, an accurate presentation of the film.
