Halloween II
Trailers have already given away Tyler Mane’s money shot in Halloween II. During Michael Myers’ latest rampage, he actually lifts a car and flips it over in pursuit of his next victim.
Tyler Mane is Michael
“Oh, I practiced on weekends lifting the car,” Mane joked. “It was a lot of fun. No, I had a little assistance, but it looks pretty cool, doesn’t it? I’m not going to tell you how we did it. Movie magic.”
To be serious, it is hard work being a masked slasher. “It’s very physically exhausting. At the end of the day, if you have to kill somebody 10 times, especially the way we do it in this movie, it’s like in the nurse’s scene, I stick her a few times. The last stick, I just looked up and I go, ‘Rob, I’m done.’ He goes, ‘I like it, it’s good.’ It just worked into it but it’s very physically demanding and intense that way. At the end of the day I had to decompress a little bit. Cigar and a glass of wine.”
You’d think working up a sweat in that mask would lead to some odorous side effects, but Mane said he was spared a stench. “No, it was taken care of very well. I was very appreciative of that extra opening though. It let air move a little better than the last version.”
With a flap open in the mask, you’ll see a little more of the real Tyler Mane in this Halloween. The new film also delves into his psyche, as Myers becomes obsessed with the vision of a white horse.
“I saw the white horse in person. That’s a big ass horse. But it is a symbol of the white horse that he was given by his mother. That is what Michael Myers clings to, when he gets out of the crash and heads to where he thinks is his mother and the real white horse. You’ve probably had toys as a kid like a horse or a little motorcycle and wished it was real. That’s exactly what is going on with Michael Myers.”
H2 is out in theaters now.
