I got an email from Walt Disney Pictures today with the subject heading saying the fourth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean had been officially titled. While I expected a big press release, all I got was a single image (shown above).
Pirates 4 Called...
The fourth installment is Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. I find it interesting that we weigh in so much on a title, considering that the first installment was originally just titled Pirates of the Caribbean, with "The Curse of the Black Pearl" coming later. You know, after Disney realized they had a huge film franchise on their hands.
While we don't know anything on the plot direction, it was suggested in World's End that Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa might go off on their own adventures together, perhaps to look for the Fountain of Youth.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opens to theaters summer 2011.
