Robert Redford has a period drama that is so 'period' that it takes place right after the assassination of President Lincoln. With production on The Conspirator set to begin this October, Redford has quickly picked up his title characters with James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn.
James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn for The Conspirator
Written by James Solomon, The Conspirator will have Wright play Mary Surratt, the only woman among a group charged with conspiring to kill the president. McAvoy will play Frederick Aiken, an idealistic young war hero who reluctantly defends Surratt and in the process comes to believe she is innocent. The film, directed by Redford, is based on true events.
McAvoy will likely be working to get production wrapped quick, as he is prepping to shoot Wanted 2 in 2010.
