With other studios and directors moving forward with their own projects involving Abe Lincoln, one has to wonder whatever happened to Steven Spielberg's dream Lincoln project. Well, the director reminds us not to count him out, as he still has it in mind to make a movie some time or other.
Steven Spielberg Still Wants to Shoot Lincoln
Robert Redford now has The Conspirator, a film more about the aftermath investigation of Lincoln's assassination, and Spielberg is still without his Lincoln opus. First he was distracted with another big project involving one Indiana Jones, and then he got held up on budget constraints. He's been delayed, sure, but don't count him down and out.
Spielberg tells Variety, “We are very happy that Redford will be doing this Lincoln movie. It is completely different from what our DreamWorks Lincoln movie will be and we believe that it will add to the commercial potential of our film. Lincoln as a subject is inexhaustible.”
As an example, Spielberg's Lincoln movie will focus on the president when he was alive.
