The latest rage are musicals, as all the best actors seem to be leaning towards them. Okay, it's a bit of an exaggeration, but slightly true. The latest victim -- don't take that in a bad way -- is Stanley Tucci, who has agreed to join the cast of Burlesque. To be honest, this project was in need of some testosterone.
Stanley Tucci Sings Burlesque
Screen Gems has hired Tucci to star alongside Cher and Christina Aguilera in Burlesque, the musical to be directed by Steve Antin.
Based off a script by Antin, though revised by Susannah Grant, Burlesque will have Aguilera play an ambitious small-town girl with a big voice who finds success in a neo-burlesque club reminiscent of the nightclub in Bob Fosse's "Cabaret." Tucci will play the manager of the Sunset Boulevard club and the best friend and confidante of Tess (Cher), a former dancer who takes the young girl under her wing.
If seeing Cher's name on the credits came as a bit of a shock, it should, as she hasn't had a starring role in the past decade.
Tucci can next be seen acting creepy in Peter Jackson The Lovely Bones.
