Paranormal Activity
Saw VI entered theaters and, unlike the installments before it, the franchise has finally found some serious competition in the horror genre. So much in fact that Lionsgate had to concede the top spot to Paramount's indie-horror that could, Paranormal Activity.
Paranormal Activity vs Saw VI at the Box Office
Paramount might be going all Fox Searchlight the following months after seeing the low-budget horror Paranormal Activity, which only got a wide release thanks to a petition, go on to take the number one spot at the box office. Earning $22 million over the weekend, the horror beat out Lionsgate's $14.8 million for Saw VI. I don't know about you, but I'd call that a beating.
If you weren't part of the horror genre, then you likely didn't fare that well this weekend. Well, I guess we can call Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant horror, but that only scored $6.3 million during its opening bow to take the number six spot. Ouch.
Since Paranormal Activity has become the film to watch, I can only wonder what we can expect when the film gets released internationally in the next few weeks.
