Warner Bros. has purchased an untitled comedy, that is currently under the working title Dirty Old Men, and already has an idea on who it wants to star and direct.
Morgan Freeman Joins Dirty Old Men
Morgan Freeman has been attached to star, while Peter Segal is a strong option to direct. The comedy revolves around an aging playboy who finally meets the love of his life and his best friend and wingman for the past 40 years (Freeman) who does everything to break up the new couple. The tone is described as similar to Wedding Crashers and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
If the stars align for Warner Bros, the studio might convince Jack Nicholson to reteam with Freeman on the project. So far no offer has been made, but we're told that Nicholson is definitely aware of the project and Freeman's involvement.
Josh Cagan and Greg Coolidge have been on a bit of a run of late. The scribes penned Summit's Bandslam, and Coolidge last year sold a high-profile pitch to Paramount titled Cockblocker with Seann William Scott and Topher Grace attached. The two are buddies though a six-man writing troupe dubbed the Job Factory.
