Keanu Reeves
Unless something goes horribly wrong, it looks like Universal Pictures will have Carl Erik Rinsch onboard to direct 47 Ronin in his feature directing debut.
Carl Erik Rinsch Looking to Helm 47 Ronin
Starring Keanu Reeves, 47 Ronin tells the famous fact-based story of a band of samurai swordsmen who avenge the death of their master in 18th century Japan. So where does Reeves fit in? Well, it turns out he's half Asian, and more than capable to play one of the swordsmen. Chris Morgan wrote the script, with the picture expected to be a mix of films like The Lord of the Rings with battle scenes of the sort found in Gladiator and 300.
Universal has made 47 Ronin a priority and have come to depend on Rinsch based solely on commercials he's shot for Ridley and Tony Scott, Mercedes, Sprite and BMW. They are, however, not the only studio radar the helmer has popped up on.
