With the success of Kung Fu Panda, it comes as no surprise that Jack Black would be hanging around the genre. The actor has agreed to star in an untitled animated pitch that Illumination Entertainment, Chris Meledandri's Universal-based family film unit, is acquiring preemptively.
Jack Black Getting Animated
Pitched by scribe Jason Micallef, with Black in the room, the untitled animation is centered in the world of cryptozoology, which is the search for legendary creatures whose existence has never actually been confirmed, like the Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot.
Black is only onboard in the producer capacity, and has no desire to voice a character. He will, however, reprise his role in the Kung Fu Panda sequel.
If you've never heard of Illumination Entertainment, you soon will, as their first major animated release is on its way shortly in the form of Despicable Me.
