Now here are some fun casting rumors worth getting excited over. MovieLine reports that Columbia Pictures is currently in talks with both John Malkovich and Anne Hathaway to play parts in Spider-Man 4. Malkovich will play the villain, while Hathaway's character will be more of a reimagining of a source character.
John Malkovich, Anne Hathaway Possible for Spider-Man 4
Though Black Cat and the Lizard were the first assumed villains for the next Spider-Man installment, it looks like Sam Raimi may be going another direction entirely. Movieline reports that Malkovich would play Spider-Man's nemesis the Vulture, who packs a punch despite his advanced age. The Vulture is able to fly through the air and brandish his sharp wings to attack Spider-Man.
It is also being rumored that Hathaway is up for the role of Felicia Hardy. Yes, the same character who becomes Black Cat. For the film, however, Felicia Hardy will become a brand-new superpowered figure called the Vulturess.
While I find it odd that Columbia would completely reimagine a character, we might as well wait for an official response before getting all riled up.
