Zombies are still the hot item. Not played out like Vampires -- though I still adore True Blood -- it was only a matter of time before Hollywood would pick up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. To get the ball rolling, Natalie Portman has boarded the production as producer and star.

Based on the book by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies tells the timeless story of a woman’s quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers.
Portman will play feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet, who is distracted from her quest to eradicate the zombie menace by the arrival of the arrogant Mr. Darcy.
Natalie Portman can be seen in theaters alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire in Brothers.
