Rock Band
I decided to ring in the New Year by making a set list of a few tracks I downloaded over the past year. I played them on guitar on the hard setting, and I used Lego Rock Band just because I could.
Rock Band DLC
Weezer’s new “If You’re Wondering If I Want You To (I Want You To),” which I already love anyway, has a great fast paced track that gets just enough of the fast twists to feel like you’re playing, but not enough to drive you crazy like expert probably does.
Janis Joplin and The Cranberries were both nice and mellow tracks. Easy chords and notes to play, feels like the songs. R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” also feels exactly as you’d expect those familiar notes to play, but a bit faster paced and more challenging.
Boston’s “Peace of Mind” has been my obsession since it was a DLC for Guitar Hero 3. Good for Boston for getting in both games, and the Rock Band version feels a bit more comfortable. It still captures all the different riffs in that song and definitely works out your hands. I probably could have found the ideal positioning but for a first try, I already hit 5 stars before the second solo and got a 202 note streak at some point.
Of course my favorite is still Stephen and the Colberts. That was a free download but I would have paid double for the fake Stephen Colbert stalker pop song. Happy New Year.
