Thor
With Spider-Man 4 delayed, Marvel Entertainment and Paramount have found a new window to release their other comicbook adaptation, Thor. While the film was originally set to open on May 20th, 2011, the loss of competition has enabled the production to push forward two weeks to May 6th, 2011.
Thor Coming Summer 2011
When one window closes another one opens. Since Thor no longer has the May 20th weekend, Disney has stepped in and announced that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will now open that weekend. The fourth installment in the Pirates franchise did not have a theatrical release date until now.
Spider-Man 4 has been held up due to script issues, but Sony will still attempt to have the film ready by the May 6th release date. The studio claims that it had not abandoned the date and was surprised to see Paramount's aggressive strategy to swap Thor in.
It is now being assumed that, if Spider-Man 4 was to get production back on track, Thor would again move to another release date.
