Kickboxer
This is the best Van Damme has ever looked. Even the Universal Soldier Blu Ray wasn’t this nice. It’s definitely the highest quality in which Kickboxer has ever been presented.
Kickboxer on Blu-Ray
It’s a smooth transfer. There’s no grain, at least not in the important scenes, and it’s got the polished gloss of the ‘80s. There are nice shots of Thailand, the natural green mountainside and the clear village in which Van Damme trains. You see detail in the dirt grit, the trees, the thatch roofs.
The fighting rings get real clarity too. The colors of the ropes and the trunks pop, and you see every bead of sweat in detail. Even the fiery ring of the finale holds up. It only grains up in darker scenes like the locker room and the hospital at night. That keeps it real while the rest of the movie looks awesome.
