Summit Entertainment is doing a bit of a switch-a-roo for their upcoming comicbook adaptation, Red, from DC Comics. Though the project was originally supposed to star John C. Reilly, John Malkovich has just been cast to replace him.
John Malkovich for Red
Malkovich will star alongside Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis. The casting switch came just in time, as the film is expected to enter production this month in Toronto and Louisiana. Red will be directed by Robert Schwentke off a script by brothers Erich and Jon Hoeber.
Red, which Summit acquired only last year, could become a franchise. The three-book series follows a former black-ops CIA agent hunted by a high-tech assassin.
