You’ve waited patiently for Chuck’s third season to come on TV, and now you have a wealth of Chuck. Season two is out on Blu Ray, and it seems like an improvement over the season one set.
Chuck on Blu-Ray
The show is very cinematic. The fast paced action and swirling cameras looks good on an HDTV screen in the 16x9 frame. There’s some grain, but it’s sharp and clear like a film, and that effect works in this format.
It’s a little saturated with the colors pushed to glow, so that in turn hides some of the gritty details. But how gritty are the hallways and suburban home sets of a TV show anyway? It’s sharp and clear though. The grain you see at least looks like film grain. Season one had grain that looked digital, although the TV I had when that came out wasn’t as good as the Panasonic so it might be the screen too.
It is a colorful show, certainly around the home. The green Buy More uniforms and Captain Awesome’s blue scrubs pop out. It holds up in the colorless corridors of evil spy laboratories too.
Chuck: Season Two isn’t the best TV show on Blu Ray but it holds up. It certainly never washes over with a white haze or flickering speckles. It remains consistent.
