Fast & Furious
While I do like to make fun of the Fast & Furious franchise, it has spelled box office gold for Universal Pictures and (most) of the installments are at least watchable. Looking to cash in a bit more, the studio has greenlit a fifth installment, currently using the working title Fast Five. Yeah, I'm not feeling it either; but it's cute, right?
Fast & Furious 5 Getting Green
The project is getting fasttracked, and Universal already has Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Justin Lin (to direct) on board. If you remember, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker sat out for the third installment, which took place out of state, and soon realized that there careers may depend on the franchise; and so returned to it. Okay, okay, that's a little unfair, but the two have done well together.
Scribe Chris Morgan has been hired to write Fast Five, which finds protags Dom (Diesel) and Brian (Walker) as fugitives being pursued by relentless lawmen. Lensing will begin later this year with an expected 2011 release.
