The wealth of one hour mysteries on television shows that there’s no end of ways to solve problems. Here’s one you’ve never thought of before. Past Life features a team that uses past life regressions to solve their client’s problems. It’s the Lie to Me of reincarnation.
Kelli Giddish on Past Life
“With a show like Lie to Me, Tim Roth's character and my character, I kind of see them as similar,” said Past Life star Kelli Giddish. “We each have a special skill set that is maybe a little outside the norm of what you can expect from a person. But, inherently, the stories are going to be completely different because of who each of us is. Of course, he's a great, wonderful actor, and I'm not comparing myself tohim, but in terms of his character. It's a very weird skill set that he has.”
Just like lie detection leads to vastly different stories each week, so will past lives provide a variety of storylines. “It was really pleasantly surprising and exciting to see all of the different things that come to light when you just create that one given. So superstitions, all that kind of stuff, is all addressed at some point.”
There are questions within the core group of the show that can be explored too. “Why are these four people together? That could be something interesting too. The relationships we have in the present world are pretty defined, and yet there's things about each, like why Kate and Malachi ended up together. Throughout the whole world, she’s from Texas, he runs his institute in New York, why are they together now? Is there some special reason? There's all kinds of things like that to explore, when you get to know the characters.”
