3D announcements for big upcoming blockbusters are beginning to feel like the IMAX announcements. Though they arrive with excitement, we should have already expected it. The same hold true for the Spider-Man reboot, though seeing Spidy swing at us should be very cool.
Spider-Man Swinging in Third Dimension
With the 3D announcement also comes a theatrical release date. Showing confidence, Columbia Pictures claims that we can expect to see the new Spider-Man in theaters on July 3, 2012.
"Spider-Man is the ultimate summer moviegoing experience, and we're thrilled the filmmakers are presenting the next installment in 3D," said Jeff Blake, chairman of Sony Pictures worldwide marketing & distribution.
"Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the world, and we know audiences are eager and excited to discover Marc's fantastic vision for Peter Parker and the franchise."
The still untitled installment will enter production later this year. Marc Webb is directing off a screenplay by James Vanderbilt.
