Valentine's Day
James Cameron has reminded us repeatedly that sometimes it is the female moviegoers that truly command the weekend box office. I have to assume that is the case for Valentine’s Day, as the film topped the box office with some of the worst reviews I've seen in 2010.
Box Office Charmer: Valentine's Day
Before Friday I was told that Valentine's Day could be the worst film (or at least biggest disappointment) so far in 2010. With a cast this big it had to be good. Not so, though that played absolutely no effect on the film's box office take.
Valentine's Day came in at number one with a whopping $52.4 million. Whoa! The film also did excellent overseas, with $34.4 million in 52 markets. While the rom-com took the top spot with ease, the second and third spots were a bit tighter. Percy Jackson seems to have taken the number two spot with $31.1 million while The Wolfman did just fine with $30.6 million.
Overall it was an impressive weekend, and we still have a Monday holiday to consider.
