Regency is fully financing and producing the untitled third installment, which studio partner 20th Century Fox will distribute. The studio is also bringing back John Whitesell, who helmed the second Big Momma's House installment, to direct.
Whitesell will begin lensing the new installment April in Atlanta off a script by Matthew Fogel.
In the latest adventure, FBI agent Malcolm Turner and his 17-year-old nephew, Trent, go undercover at an all-girls performing arts school after Trent witnesses a murder. Posing as Big Momma and Charmaine, they must find the murderer before he finds them.
Both the previous House installments did well, though the sequel showed a decline in ticket sales.
