Time to re-launch my "Classics that should not be made" campaign. I get remaking films that were bad, but why remake Arthur? Just go watch Arthur dang it!

But Warner Bros. doesn't care. The studio has done well with remakes, and Clash of the Titans is looking solid, so they have picked Russell Brand to be the new Arthur. I'm not feeling it -- the last time he was funny and remotely close to endearing was Sarah Marshall -- but I do like the choice of direct.
If you remember the original, the film follows a wealthy playboy who falls for a working-class woman.
Jason Winer, who directed the pilot of ABC's Modern Family, will get behind the camera for Arthur.
