You know you've made it as a director when every time you even contemplate picking up a project it becomes news. It seems that of recent we've been reporting more on what Eastwood is thinking to do rather than what he has signed on to do. The guy's a great director, no doubt, and now he's thinking of getting behind the camera for a biopic all about J. Edgar Hoover.
Clint Eastwood In Talks to Direct Hoover
The attention to the biopic has spiked of recent as Universal Pictures just released the project into turnaround. The script, written by Dustin Lance Black, was written a year ago and still seems fit enough to remain the working copy. All the project needs right now is some talent behind it. If Eastwood were to sign onto the project, the assumption is that Warner Bros, who have worked with Eastwood repeatedly, would then pick up the project.
Hoover was appointed director of the Bureau of Investigation in 1924 and was named head of the FBI when it was founded 11 years later. He remained director until his death in 1972 and came under attack late in his tenure for using the FBI to harass political activists and keeping secret files on leaders.
