We knew it was too good to be true, but the group number has returned to the results show. The contestants gave us Wham’s “Wake Me Up, Before You Go Go” and as in past seasons the tracks were pre-recorded – I hate that! Unlike some other pop star divas, that will remain unnamed, these kids are not adept at lip-syncing.
The Ford music video was “Our Time Now” – pretty cute - look for it on www.americanidol.com.
American Idol: Season 9 Top 11 Results
Now to fill the hour there was what seemed like an eternity of banter between Ryan and the idol contestants. We could save America so much pain by getting this done in 30 minutes.
Finally, dim the lights – Siobhan Magnus deemed safe. Lee Dewyze and Casey James were asked to stand. Also, Tim Urban and Paige Miles were asked to stand. Both Tim and Paige were banished to the stools of shame and in the Bottom 3. Lee and Casey were just left hanging till the break.
Miley Cyrus performed “When I Look at You”. I just don’t get the appeal.
Ryan announced Idol Gives Back will take place in four weeks, but you can start making contributions on-line now.
Bring down the lights (a new phrase from Ryan) – Aaron Kelly was safe. Didi Benami was safe. Michael Lynche and Crystal Bowersox were also pronounced safe. The final two contestants, Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens stood and Katie was joined Paige and Tim. The Bottom 3 moved to center stage and Ryan immediately sent Katie back to the sofa of safety.
Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas sang their duet of “Make a Wave”. Is there some hearing impairment in the youth of today of which I am unaware? And why are we not seeing more performances from Idol alums?
Ryan brought Paige and Tim to center stage. Paige Miles was eliminated. And in a ‘kind gesture’ by Simon, he told Paige the judges would not exercise the save no matter how she sang. (I am not a fan of the fake judges’ conference anyway.) I guess that took the pressure off and she actually did a better job than in previous on-stage performances.
Was anyone disappointed in the elimination? Is anyone disappointed in a somewhat lack-luster Top 10? See the Touring Top 10 tackle R&B next week with mentor, Usher. American Idol performances Tuesday – results Wednesday on Fox.
