Fantastic Voyage
Now here is an interesting pairing. Paul Greengrass behind the camera and James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment behind the curtain. To top it off, the team will do a remake of Fantastic Voyage in 3D with the same (updated) technology that Cameron used for Avatar. Whoa! Sounds interesting, and I'm assuming Greengrass may have to throw out his handycam style in favor of steady 3D.
Paul Greengrass Contemplating Fantastic Voyage Remake
20th Century Fox, who has a lot of hope in the 1966 remake, has hired Shane Salerno to write the script. Fantastic Voyage centers on a dying scientist whose only chance for survival rests with five colleagues who are miniaturized and injected into his bloodstream. The original was directed by Richard Fleischer and starred Raquel Welch and Donald Pleasence.
Greengrass, who recently saw his Green Zone struggle at the box office -- further proof that films covering Iraq war issues are not on most moviegoers agenda --
should make a good fit for the remake. His style alone should prevent any accidental cheesiness.
