American Idol American Idol

Double Trouble - A double elimination loomed since the judges invoked the save last week.

Ryan reported 34 million votes were cast, the highest number this season.

The group number, a medley of Elvis classics, was bad. The lip syncing and choreography were amateurish. Couldn’t they either sing live or leave out the medley altogether? Who likes this?

Next up, was the Ford Music Video. It encouraged us to go green with the Fusion Hybrid, to the tune of “Light and Day Reach for the Sun”.

Time came for results; Ryan bespoke the famous “Dim the Lights”. He brought Casey James, Aaron Kelly and Andrew Garcia to center stage. Abruptly, Andrew was told it was time to go. He sang and graciously thanked everyone for the experience. Casey and Aaron were pronounced safe.

Idol Gives Back is one week away. A film package rolled of Elliott Yamin and Kara Dioguardi on a trip to Africa. The piece featured the children IGB raises money to help.

Season 7’s Brooke White performed a duet of “If I Can Dream” with Justin Gaston. Nicely done.

“Dim the lights” and here we go. Ryan had all the remaining contestants come to center stage. He sent Crystal Bowersox, Siobhan Magnus and Lee DeWyze to the sofa of safety.

Idol Gives Back week brings the theme of inspirational songs with mentor, Alicia Keys.

This week’s mentor and Idol Season 8 runner-up, Adam Lambert, blew the place up with his performance of “Whattaya Want from Me”. What a showman. Best “Idol moment” this season. Adam thanked the AI powers that be for helping him achieve success.

For the final time, Ryan said “bring down the lights”. Tim Urban was deemed safe and scooted off to the sofa of safety. Ryan told us of the two remaining contestants, Michael Lynche and Katie Stevens, one would be eliminated and the other WAS NOT in the Bottom 3. What the h---! How do the contestants know who needs to step it up and how do voters know if their favorite was too close to the edge? Katie was out. She reprised (emotionally struggled through) “Let It Be”. Roll Andrew and Katie’s Idol journey package.

Were you disappointed in the eliminations? How do you feel about Tim Urban’s “comeback”? What about the producers not revealing who was third from the bottom? Looking forward to next week, it should be inspiring. American Idol performances Tuesday – results Wednesday on Fox.
