If you own a property titled Avatar and end up with a bad earnings quarter, you should be taken out back and shot. Thanks to the film's unstoppable box office power, News Corp has reported a 55% jump in operating profit ($810 million) for the fiscal quarter.
Avatar Pushes Up News Corp
The film/entertainment branch alone saw an income surge of 76% to $497 million, setting record for the highest operating income of any fiscal quarter for this segment. The corporation's fiscal third quarter ended in March.
Avatar, which is getting most the credit, has box office receipts that top $2.7 billion around the globe.
Now if I can only find a way to get a piece of that.
