When your a combatant in a film like Robin Hood, then you better know how to (realistically) do your archery. Just to be sure, Ridley Scott made sure the cast got proper training.
Robin Hood Featurette Trains the Cast
Especially Russell Crowe, who looks to be shooting arrows here and there all over this film. Crowe admits that the training is required, as he doesn't want to look like a novice on the move. Other cast got trained, including Cate Blanchett, who admits to having fired an arrow on the first day of filming.
