Iron Man 2
Iron Man 2 may be experiencing some mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, that hasn't prevented the film from blasting apart the box office. Having already earned over $100 million overseas before its domestic release, the film opened to a whopping $133.6 million during its opening weekend here in the States.
Box Office Winner: Iron Man 2
Iron Man 2 will (hopefully) show studios that 2D-only films still got the punch to earn ridiculous amounts at the box office. The film is already Paramount's highest-grossing domestic opener while it also added an additional $57.2 million in 61 overseas markets during its second (international) frame.
Besides scoring a high for Paramount, the film also took the number five spot for biggest domestic three-day opener. Shrek the Third got knocked to number six with it's $121.6 million. Let's be honest, the film did NOT deserve the spot anyway.
