20th Century Fox is making some big moves in terms of casting the upcoming X-Men prequel, X-Men: First Class. Looking for the big characters first, the studio has found their Professor X with James McAvoy.
James McAvoy for X-Men: First Class
Once Wanted, now a mutant, James McAvoy will play Charles Xavier as a young man discovering his powers along with Erik Lensherr. Before they took the names Professor X and Magneto, the duo were close friends. They worked together with other Mutants to stop a threat to the world, but in the process, a rift opened between them, leading to the war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men.
Matthew Vaughn will direct X-Men: First Class, which Fox plans on having in theaters by June 3, 2011. So expect a lot more casting updates over the coming month.
