Gerard Butler
So who can be talked into starring in a movie called Machine Gun Preacher? A lot actually, as Lionsgate recently landed Gerard Butler, Michael Shannon, Michelle Monaghan, Madeline Carroll, Kathy Baker and Souleymane Sy Savane.
Butler and Cast for Machine Gun Preacher
Butler will play the film's title character, while Michael Shannon will co-star as the friend. Machine Gun Preacher is based on the true story of Sam Childers, a once violent drug-dealing biker who went on to spend time in the most dangerous parts of Sudan and Uganda rescuing the youngest victims of war.
Marc Foster will direct off a script by Jason Keller with production set to begin July 5th in Detroit and then South Africa. Lionsgate is hoping to have the film in theaters by fall 2011.
Monaghan and Carroll will portray Childer's wife and daughter while Baker plays his mother and Savane plays Childers' right hand in Africa.
