Will James Franco make Dev Patel jealous? Sounds like a silly question, but Freida Pinto might soon be starring opposite Franco in the Planet of the Apes prequel, Rise of the Apes.
Freida Pinto in Talks for Rise of the Apes
While the remake of Planet of the Apes didn't go over so well, 20th Century Fox is trying a prequel anyway. Set in present day San Francisco, Apes deals with the aftermath of man's experiments with genetic engineering that lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. Franco will play a driven scientist who becomes a crucial figure in the war between humans and apes.
If she agrees, Pinto will play the role of Caroline, a primatologist. Lithgow, who is also in talks with Fox, would play the father of Franco's character.
Fox is hoping to have the film in production this month with a theatrical release set for June 24th, 2011.
