Toy Story 3 stayed strong in its second outing with an estimated $59 million over the weekend, bringing its domestic total to $226.6 million. Though Grown Ups has been noted (repeatedly) at not being good nor funny, the film still opened impressively well -- thanks probably to its aging ensemble cast -- with a whopping $41 million. The other wide release, Knight and Day, opened to studio expectations with an estimated three-day total of $20.5 million. While critics weren't raving about the two new releases, both of them landed a nice A- CinemaScore from audiences under the age of 25.
Anything else worth mentioning? Well, though the weekend performed well, it still couldn't compare to the same frame last year, which saw the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Because of that, the weekend ended up being down 20%.
