If you weren't a fan of Marvel Studios decision to go with Chris Evans as Captain America -- I, however, like it -- then maybe you'll begin to respect the film's supporting cast.
Tommy Lee Jones for Captain America
Marvel has picked up Tommy Lee Jones to play U.S. Army Colonel Chester Phillips in Captain America: The First Avenger, which will be directed by Joe Johnston off a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
Besides Chris Evans in the title role, Hugo Weaving will portray the villainous Red Skull, while Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan and Stanley Tucci round out the cast. Neal McDonough is also negotiating to play "Dum Dum" Dugan. The adaptation will focus on the early days of Steve Rogers and how he volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.
So how does Tommy Lee Jones' Chester Phillips fit in? The character existed in the earliest of the franchise's comics, as he was the one who recruited Rogers to join Project Rebirth, behind the Super Solider program. The character will get an upgrade in story and character arc for the film.
