Hollywood continues to look for inspiration, and it would at least seem that board games are the new hot spot for that very thing. Tim Burton has agreed to develop and direct an adaptation of the board game Monsterpocalypse for DreamWorks.

John August has been picked up to help work on the script, which revolves around giant robots developed by mankind to fend off equally giant aliens. As you might have guessed, the possibility of shooting the film in 3D is also being discussed.
Disney will distribute the film, but the film is still in the earliest momentum stages.
Just in case the project does fall through, Burton will also begin working on Dark Shadows, a film that has him reteaming with Johnny Depp.
