Sony's making some progress with their bound to be not as good remake of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Not only have they selected a release date, December 21, 2011, they also have Daniel Craig in continued negotiations to star.
Sony Dates The Girl Wirth the Dragon Tattoo
Dragon Tattoo can be the beginning of a major franchise for Sony, considering that this is the first installment in author Stieg Larsson's hit Swedish trilogy. If you're a fan of foreign films, then you already know that a Swedish adaptation already performed amazingly well overseas. Instead of giving that a theatrical run in the states, Sony will just start the franchise over.
Sony's version will be directed by David Fincher off a script by Steven Zaillian. If Craig agrees, he will play a disgraced financial journalist hired to investigate the case of a missing woman. The title, and female, character has yet to be cast.
