Once you get big enough in music, it is only matter of time before that singer transitions for at least a small stint in film. It looks like it is now Rihanna's turn, who has landed a lead role in Universal Pictures adaptation of Battleship.

More casting updates are expected from Battleship, considering that director Peter Berg is expected to begin shooting the adaptation shortly. As of right now the callsheet includes Alexander Skarsgard, Taylor Kitsch and Rihanna. He will direct off a screenplay by Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber; which was later revised by Brian Koppelman and David Levien.
Set to hit theaters on May 25, 2012, Battleship takes place across the seas, over the skies and land in a battle for planet survival against a superior force. What sort of alien force? Can't exactly say, but the hint has been "alien."
