Secretariat
Walt Disney Pictures has released a new featurette for Secretariat and it somewhat confirms one of my fears about the film.
Secretariat Featurette
Since I had a lot of travel time over the Labor Day weekend I took the effort to browse Wikipedia from my phone to see which horse really had a more amazing story: Seabiscuit or Secretariat. What I found out was a bit disappointing. From all I can tell, Seabiscuit's story is a ton cooler than the horse being covered by Hollywood today. While Seabiscuit's rise was full of trial and tribulation, it turns out that Secretariat was just one big, super-fast horse.
I also noticed that the story of Secretariat puts a lot of attention on the horse's breeder, Penny Chenery; played by Diane Lane in the film. This woman was important as she ws the first to break all sorts of sex discrimination in horse racing. That's cool, it is, but I can't help but be concerned. Who is this film really about?
A horse? Maybe. Though the first featurette is dedicated to Penny Chenery. Take a look below (via TrailerAddict):
