DVD Review: A Fish Called Wanda Collectors Edition
A lot of them are really little details, like Otto killing animals or badly sweet talking Wanda. Any additional Kevin Kline tidbits are awesome because this is his finest work. We prances and dances around like a maniac, or shows a subtle evil that's still hilarious.
Lengthier scenes include more tension between Otto and Wanda over her dating Archie. It's not as funny as others in the film though Kline does say "hide the salami." Otto flashing a fake badge is funny, because it calls attention to how people in movies always get away with that trick.
Alternates include a colder Wanda explaining her false testimony and Otto practicing his apologies.
More educational scenes about the filmmaking process, which John Cleese himself admits didn't belong, include more violent dog deaths and pure plot explanations of things that were already clear. But man, watching old video footage of more Fish Called Wanda just makes me feel like I'm in a time machine.
